LIAO KAI: A JOURNEY OF CREATIVITY AND PASSION
Born in 1970, Liao Kai is a renowned sculptor from Guizhou Province. He holds memberships in the Royal British Sculptors Association and the China Artists Association, as well as being an accredited sculptor by the National Construction Department's Urban Sculpture Committee. Additionally, he serves as a Senior Environmental Art Advisor for the Chinese Construction Cultural Arts Association and Artistic Director of the "American Discoveries East" Chinese Culture and Arts Park.
His journey into historical themed sculpture began in 2001, with his works garnering high praise from industry professionals and solidifying his position as a representative figure in contemporary domestic historical themed creations. In 2004, he was commissioned to create red-themed sculptures for the Yunyi Conference Memorial Hall; his work "Historical Turnaround" earned him widespread recognition. The following year saw him collaborate with Qianzhong Anti-Japanese Memorial Hall on "Qian Nan Anger Tide," while between 2006-2007 he worked on long march-themed sculptures for Si Dashui Memorial Hall under Four Crossings over Red River.
In 2009, Liao Kai was entrusted by Chengdu Military District to create a series of sculptures commemorating Luoshan Pass Battle Site during the Red Army's Long March. His subsequent collaboration with China Women's Red Army Memorial Hall resulted in "Bleeding Angel." In 2011, Shanghai Chen Yun Memorial Hall commissioned him to paint a large-scale oil painting titled "Clever Crossing Golden Sand River."
Finally, in 2013, Jiangxi Provincial Central Soviet Fifth Counterattack War Museum entrusted Liao Kai with creating monumental sculptures such as "Divine Fury Overheavenly Han," "Furious Charge Not Zhou Mountain," and "Invincible Crow." Furthermore, he oversaw design for the museum entrance hall.
